Can the Anti Smoking Law in Britain Take Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Net?
Sunday, 11. July 2021
Much has been reported in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry struggling because of the anti smoking law in the United Kingdom. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested massive aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. However can the web version of this traditional game present a salvation, or will it in no way compare to its land based peer?
Bingo has been an familiar game generally played by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game lately had witnessed a recent comeback in popularity with younger men and women deciding to go to the bingo halls in place of the clubs on a Friday night. This is all about to be destroyed with the enacting of the cigarette ban all over Britain.
No more will players be permitted to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public location will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favored areas where players like to puff on cigarettes.
The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo halls. Profits have plunged and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where did all the players go? Of course they have not given up on this established game?
The answer is online. People realise that they can play bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beer and smoke and in the end, enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself almost perfectly with the anti smoking law.
Of course betting on on the net will never replace the communal aspect of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the governing edicts have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with little choice.
