Much has been written in the papers just a while ago regarding the bingo industry singing the blues as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in the United Kingdom. Things have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. However can the online adaptation of this quintessential game offer a lifeline, or will it never compare to its bricks and mortar kin?
Bingo has been an familiar game generally played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had witnessed a recent return in acceptance with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo parlors rather than the bars on a Saturday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the cigarette ban throughout England and Wales.
No more will enthusiasts be able to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public location will not be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favorite areas where many people like to smoke.
The results of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlours. Profits have dropped and the business is absolutely struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Surely they have not cast aside this classic game?
The answer is on the web. Gamblers are now realizing that they can wager on bingo in front of their computer while enjoying a drink and fag and still enjoy big jackpots. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
Of course playing on the internet can never replace the collective portion of heading down to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of people the governing edicts have left many bingo players with little option.

There are various reasons why people begin wagering on bingo, for instance for cash, for friendship, for experiencing that rush of adrenaline, or simply to have a great experience. Highs and lows, thrill and chills, you name it – internet bingo provides all these and more. Just as in any other gambling game where risks are high, this heightened exhilaration has its own fair share of positive and detrimental impact on the enthusiasts.
Bingo- The Stress Magnet
The exhilaration wrapped up in a game of bingo can push an individual to the opposite side of the spectrum. Becoming too engrossed in the game, one’s excitement level could alter; this possibly could have a detrimental effect on players who suffer from high blood pressure or heart problems. Some studies indicate, individuals who participate in bingo are prone to get easily agitated and consequently have high-anxiety. It has been seen that job related stress is a whole lot less than the stress generated while participating in bingo. There have been several cases of individuals having been fired their place of work as a consequence of bingo-related anxiety affecting their performance at work.

A lot has been stated in the press not long ago concerning the bingo industry singing the blues as a result of the cigarette ban in England. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for big aid to assist in keeping the businesses afloat. But will the internet variation of this traditional game present a salvation, or will it not compare to its real life equivalent?
Bingo has been an established game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game lately had witnessed a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society opting to go to the bingo halls in place of the discos on a weekend. All this is about to be destroyed with the introduction of the anti smoking law all over UK.
Players will no longer be allowed to puff on cigarettes whilst marking off their numbers. From the summer of ‘07 all public areas will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favored areas where people like to smoke.
The outcome of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already not permitted in the bingo halls. Players have plunged and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they haven’t cast aside this enduring game?
The answer is on the net. Players realise that they can wager on bingo using their computer while enjoying a cocktail and cigarette and in the end, enjoy monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course playing on the net is unlikely to replace the communal portion of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the law has left many bingo enthusiasts with no choice.

New Mexico has a complex gaming background. When the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed by Congress in 1989, it seemed like New Mexico might be one of the states to get on the Amerindian casino craze. Politics assured that would not be the situation.
The New Mexico governor Bruce King announced a working group in 1990 to create an accord with New Mexico Amerindian tribes. When the task force came to an accord with 2 prominent local bands a year later, Governor King declined to sign the bargain. He held up a deal until 1994.
When a new governor took office in 1995, it seemed that Native gambling in New Mexico was now a certainty. But when Governor Gary Johnson signed the contract with the Indian bands, anti-wagering groups were able to hold the deal up in courts. A New Mexico court found that Governor Johnson had overstepped his bounds in signing the deal, thereby costing the government of New Mexico many hundreds of thousands of dollars in licensing revenues over the next several years.
It took the CNA, signed by the New Mexico house, to get the process moving on a full contract between the Government of New Mexico and its American Indian bands. A decade had been squandered for gambling in New Mexico, including Indian casino Bingo.
The not for profit Bingo industry has gotten bigger from 1999. That year, New Mexico non-profit game providers acquired only $3,048 in revenues. That climbed to $725,150 in 2000, and surpassed a million dollars in revenues in 2001. Nonprofit Bingo revenues have increased constantly since then. 2005 witnessed the biggest year, with $1,233,289 grossed by the owners.
Bingo is categorically beloved in New Mexico. All types of owners look for a piece of the action. Hopefully, the politicians are through batting around gaming as a hot button factor like they did back in the 1990’s. That is most likely wishful thinking.
