Could the Anti Cigarette Law in England Force Bingo Enthusiasts Online?
Tuesday, 21. May 2024
An abundance has been talked in the press not long ago about the bingo industry struggling as a result of the anti cigarette law in Britain. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. However will the web variation of this traditional game offer a lifeline, or might it in no way compare to its land based opposite?
Bingo has been an ancient game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game recently had witnessed a recent resurgence in appeal with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo parlors in place of the clubs on a Friday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the legislating of the cigarette ban all over United Kingdom.
No more will enthusiasts be able to puff on cigarettes at the same time marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public places will not be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most common places where people enjoy smoking.
The outcome of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already not allowed in the bingo halls. Profits have dropped and the business is literally fighting for its life. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not abandoned this age old game?
The answer is on the internet. People realise that they can wager on bingo using their computer while enjoying a beer and smoke and still have a chance at monstrous jackpots. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
Of course gambling on on the net is unlikely to replace the social part of heading down to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of men and women the governing edicts have left a lot of bingo players with no choice.
