An abundance has been stated in the papers not long ago concerning the bingo industry being hit because of the anti cigarette law in England. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. But can the net version of this quintessential game present a escape, or might it in no way compare to its bricks and mortar equivalent?

Bingo is an ancient game usually enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game lately had undergone a recent increase in popularity with younger men and women opting to visit the bingo parlours rather than the discos on a Saturday night. All this is about to be reversed with the legislating of the anti smoking law across United Kingdom.

No longer will gamblers be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 all public areas will not be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most popular areas where players enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo halls. Players have plunged and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where have all the players gone? Surely they have not cast aside this enduring game?

The answer is online. Gamblers realise that they can gamble on bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at monstrous cash rewards. This is a recent development and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course betting on on the net is unlikely to replace the collective portion of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a group of men and women the law has left a number of bingo players with little option.
