Could the Anti Cigarette Law in Britain Take Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

Much has been stated in the papers not long ago regarding the bingo industry struggling as a result of the anti smoking law in England. Things have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive tax cuts to assist in keeping the industry afloat. But can the net adaptation of this traditional game provide a salvation, or might it not compare to its land based peer?

Bingo has been an established game usually enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game lately had experienced a recent return in acceptance with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo halls in place of the discos on a Friday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the introduction of the cigarette ban around England and Wales.

Players will no longer be allowed to smoke whilst marking off their numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public areas will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most common locations where people like to smoke.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already barred in the bingo halls. Players have plummeted and the industry is absolutely fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Of course they have not forgotten this enduring game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers know that they can enjoy bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, enjoy big cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself just about perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course wagering on on the internet is unlikely to replace the collective portion of going over to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of people the law has left a good many bingo enthusiasts with little option.
