Could the Anti Smoking Law in Britain Force Bingo Enthusiasts Online?
Friday, 28. June 2019
An abundance has been talked in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry struggling because of the cigarette ban in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. But does the online variation of this traditional game provide a salvation, or will it not compare to its real life opposite?
Bingo is an ancient game historically played by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game recently had undergone a recent increase in appeal with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo halls in place of the bars on a Saturday night. All this is about to change with the legislating of the anti cigarette law across Britain.
Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes whilst marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public area will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most common areas where people like to puff on cigarettes.
The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo parlors. Numbers have dropped and the industry is literally struggling for its life. But where did all the players go? Of course they have not given up on this enduring game?
The answer is on the net. Players realize that they can participate in bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a drink and smoke and in the end, enjoy massive cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.
Of course betting on online will never replace the communal aspect of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the rules have left a lot of bingo players with no choice.
