Can the Anti Smoking Law in the United Kingdom Drive Bingo Players On to the Net?

An abundance has been stated in the press recently concerning the bingo industry being hurt as a consequence of the cigarette ban in England. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to help keep the businesses alive. But will the net variation of this traditional game offer a salvation, or might it never compare to its land based kin?
Bingo has been an classic game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game of late had witnessed a recent increase in popularity with younger members of society deciding to hit the bingo parlors instead of the clubs on a Friday night. All this is about to be reversed with the legislating of the anti cigarette law all over Britain.
No longer will enthusiasts be permitted to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 all public areas will not be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most common areas where folks like to puff on cigarettes.
The outcome of the smoking ban can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already not allowed in the bingo halls. Numbers have plummeted and the business is beyond a doubt struggling for its life. But where did the players go? Of course they haven’t given up on this enduring game?
The answer is on the internet. People realise that they can bet on bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and smoke and still enjoy monstrous prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course betting on on the web is unlikely to replace the communal portion of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the law has left many bingo players with little option.
