Will the Anti Smoking Law in the United Kingdom Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Internet?

Much has been stated in the press not long ago about the bingo industry being hurt because of the anti cigarette law in England. Things have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge tax cuts to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. But can the internet variation of this quintessential game present a lifeline, or might it in no way compare to its bricks and mortar equivalent?
Bingo has been an ancient game usually enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had seen a recent return in appeal with younger men and women opting to go to the bingo halls in place of the discos on a weekend. This is all about to be reversed with the introduction of the anti smoking law all over England and Wales.
No longer will gamblers be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 all public locations will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favored places where players like to puff on cigarettes.
The outcome of the cigarette ban can already be felt in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo parlors. Numbers have plunged and the business is literally fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Surely they have not deserted this enduring game?
The answer is on the net. People realize that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and fag and still have a chance at big jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.
Of course playing online is unlikely to replace the collective part of going down to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left many bingo players with little option.
